Season 1, Episode 36: Learning to Roast Coffee and Upgrade My Recording Studio

By Oaks The Coffee Guy
Episode Summary:
In this week's podcast episode, I share some updates on various projects I'm working on, like getting product samples made and posting more content on YouTube. I'm trying to take YouTube more seriously and improve the quality of my videos. I also discuss my continued journey learning how to properly roast coffee. I talk through my plans to roast a small sample batch of Kenyan coffee two ways - one light to medium roast and one dark roast. I explain some of the science and technique behind coffee roasting and how you manipulate variables like time, temperature, and rotation speed to achieve certain results. The end goal is to document the roasting process and see how the different roast levels impact the flavor of this particular bean.

I wrap up discussing my goal to upgrade my recording studio setup for future videos and podcast content. This involves rearranging furniture, upgrading equipment like microphones and lighting, and figuring out optimal camera angles and backdrops to improve production value. I explain how in the past, with car projects and modifications, I often rushed the process. But with developing my studio and content, I want to take a more thoughtful approach and let the quality improve organically over time. There's no need to rush something if taking it slow yields better long term results.

Listen to the full episode to hear me reflect more on previous life experiences and how they influence my mindset today when taking on new projects and skill development. I share why it's important not to get overwhelmed and to just take things one step at a time.
